Introducing the Vagabond Journal

A New Way to Follow the Adventure

Before I write another word, Cyn and I would like to thank everyone who has been traveling with us on our Vagabond Adventure, whether you’ve followed our steps and missteps from the beginning, or discovered us somewhere along the way. We love having you with us. Our goal has always been to share the beauty and complexity of the world we live in, one day, one person at a time. If you follow us on Polarsteps or Social Media, you’ve been able to keep up with daily highlights. But these are only snippets of our vagabond life. We’ve covered barely a quarter of the globe yet accumulated a lifetime of stories and information.

We are always looking for better and easier ways to share what we’re experiencing and learning and that’s why we’ve created something new: The Vagabond Journal, an organized, searchable section of our website that will make it easier to follow this pilgrimage. There will be more stories, photos, and videos. And within most journal entries, we are adding recommendations that can help you plan your own adventures. We will continually add to these recommendations based on our own experience, but will also be adding recommendations from the many other well-traveled vagabonds we have met along the way.

We want this to feel like reading a book, with each Journal entry like a short chapter. New entries will be added nearly every day, while the old ones are updated with fresh information waiting to be shared. And we invite you to contribute your own thoughts on these pages. You can do that right at the bottom of each journal entry (under comments) for others to see and for us to add to the new Recommendations section (currently under construction). If you’ve been to a location, we would love to hear about your experiences and your thoughts. Or, if you have questions of your own, our visitors and fellow vagabonds might have the answers you need.

The current version of the Journal begins with our Navimag cruise that departed from Puerto Montt on Adventure Day 492 and continues through Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica, Argentina and across the Atlantic to Portugal. Meanwhile we’ll continue adding daily journals as we proceed through Europe to reach the Arctic.

For those curious about the early days through North America, Baja,Morocco and Europe in 2022, stay tuned, those stories are coming too. In the meanwhile, don’t forget our Dispatches, 25 editions strong (and growing), that are deep dives into our time in North America—the first year of our journey.

We’re Changing Email

Until now we’ve been sending our news updates and Vagabond Dispatches from chip@chipwalter.com. If you’ve been receiving these emails (if not, please sign up here), we want to let you know that we will soon be discontinuing emails from chipwalter.com. All future Vagabond updates will come from chip@vagabond-adventure.com. The Dispatches and regular news updates, delivered biweekly won’t change. You don’t need to take any action, but you can help by adding chip@vagabond-adventure.com to your contact list to help ensure delivery through email services that don’t recognize this new name. Thank you!

As always, we are grateful for your support!

Hope to see you sometime, somewhere soon! In the meantime, crack on and check out some recommended reads from our Reach Library of articles below!
