Newsletter

Hello—

Thanks for being here. It’s good to see you.

I’m a storyteller.

I write non-fiction books, novels, long-form journalism, screenplays and stories that usually start with a real question and end somewhere unexpected—sometimes in a lab, sometimes on a ship, sometimes in the Arctic, sometimes tapping away at my desk.

If you’ve read my books, you’ll recognize my voice.

This newsletter is where I share things that don’t fit neatly anywhere else: Early drafts, field notes, conversations, abandoned ideas, and the occasional finished piece before it goes public.

I don’t publish on a schedule. I write when I FEEL there’s something worth sending.

You can expect:

  • writing in progress

  • background and research that never makes it into books

  • stories from the road in real time

  • notes on what I’m thinking about as I write and travel

  • documentary and book proposals — some that worked, some that didn’t

  • outtakes from novels and non-fiction, articles, screenplays - good but no room, some just had to go

If at any point any of this it stops being useful or interesting, you should unsubscribe without a second thought. Better yet, tell me why you’re bored.

For now, I’m glad you’re here.

—Chip
